The JAZZ REVIVAL Festival will storm our city this week. With a band from the US, one from
the Netherlands, complete with jazz workshops and concerts, this whole weekend is dedicated
to Jazz. This concert is specifically to raise awareness and funds towards the Widow
Rehabilitation Project happening in Vayaloor, near Kalpakkam, ECR. The schedule is,

This group is a big name for jazz enthusiasts. Their inspiration is Duke Ellington and so they
play several of his pieces. The band will perform at Fisherman’s Cove on Friday, 13th March at

Abeya is the name of the group from Japan that consists of four professional players of
Wadaiko (Japanese drum), shakuhachi or bamboo flute and other traditional instruments of
Japan. The troupe is brought by the Japan Consul in Chennai and Japan Foundation. The
concert is free and it will be performed at Narada Gana Sabha, 314, TTK Road, Alwarpet on
March 19 at 6.30 pm.

The Railway Officers Club at Sterling Road presents a program titled ‘Black And White’. It is a
collage of performances on screen and stage. Concept and direction is by Milind Oak. On 16th

This play is set in Babylon in 500 BC and the story is about a boy sold as a slave and his rise
to a position of importance in society. This play is written and directed by Gowri Ramnarayan.

Burning the Blue was a play staged at the just concluded Saarang and it had won wide
acclaim. The Macktrics, is the name of the group from Sriram Engineering College which put
up the play. Their forte is mime and body movement theatrics. Macktrics will perform on
