Music
K Gayathri’s Vocal Music Concert

This music concert by K Gayathri is organized by Naada Inbam. Padma Shankar on the violin and
B Sivaraman on mridangam will accompany her. At Raga Sudha Hall, 85/2, Luz Avenue, Mylapore
on 24th July at 6 pm.

Vocal Concert – Rita Rajan

Rita Rajan will be accompanied on the violin by M.R Gopinath and Thanjavur Kumar on
Mridangam. This concert will also be held at Raga Sudha hall, Mylapore on July 26 at 6 pm.

Sikkil Gurucharan’s Vocal Music Concert

Sikkil Gurucharan will perform in a vocal music concert. He will be accompanied by Anil Srinivasan
on piano and B.S Purushotam on kanjira. At Kalakshetra, at 6.30 pm on July 24th.

Musical Tribute to GNB

Mudra will celebrate the centenary year of GN Balasubramaniam with two concerts. One is by
Nisha Rajagopal and the other is by Sriram Gangadharaan. There will by multi media presentation
on the life of GNB. At 5 pm on 25th July, Nisha Rajagopalan will enthrall the audience with her
vocal music. At 6.30 pm, it will be the turn of Radha Bhaskar and SAK Durga to present a
multimedia presentation on GNB.

Flute Concert

Shantala Subramanyam plays flute on the stage, a live performance organized by The
International Foundation for Carnatic Music on July 26, 6.00 p.m. At Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz,
Mylapore.

A Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

Sharan Incorporation presents “Dil Ke Awaaz”, a tribute to the well known legendary singer in the
film industry over decades. This includes Sadhana Sargam, singers such as Usha, Rajeshwari,
Akila, Shekhar, Ramesh (Erode) and Surojit (Bangalore). All of them will be presenting the hits of
the Nightingale Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar, picking up some of her hit numbers. The singers
are accompanied by an orcherstra group led by V.Chandran. V- Excel Eductional Trust supports
3600 children and adults with autism, dyslexia and mental retardation is supported by this event
which is to be held on August 1 at 6 p.m at The Music Academy. Tickets for sale in The Music

Unseen Underground Pub Fest

The third edition of Unseen Underground Pub Fest (UUPF-III) is organized in association with
Geoffrey’s. It is a unique combination of band members from Soundscape, Carnage, Escher’s
Knot, Blood Covenant, Blood and Iron, Skrat, and Third Harmonic. The show is on July 26 at 7
p.m. At Geoffrey’s Pub, Radha Regent, 171, Jawaharlal Nehru Salai ( Inner Ring Road ),

Dance
Dasyam Swathi Nrithyotsavam

Famous Mohiniattam dancer, under the auspices of her Mohiniyattam School Dasyam is
conducting the sixth year of Dasyam Swathi Nrithyotsavam in rememberance of Maharaja Swatha
Thirunal. The programme this year, comprising various dance forms, will start on 19th July and
conclude on 25th July. Their dances will be based on the compositions of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal.
The details of the programme are as follows:
July 24, at 5.30 pm – Anusha will present bharatanatyam dance performance
July 24, at 7.00 pm – Jayapriya Vikraman’s Kuchipudi dance performance
July 25, at 5.30 pm – Aishwaryaa Dhanush’s bharatanatyam dance performance

Nalli’s Aadi Drama Festival

This drama festival lasting 10 days, and organized by Brahma Gana Sabha is back. The following
are the dramas that will be staged.

July 24, at 7 pm – Vara Vara Mamiyar

This is a play by an all-women team from Mumbai. It is directed by Bhanu Kumar. This play is
about the evolution in the role of mothers-in-law. Staged first in 2004, this play has been a
success.

July 25, at 7 pm – Kadhal Sadugudu by Raadhu

This comedy play is presented by Amritham Gopal’s Gitanjali. It is about three professionals who
share an apartment.

July 26, at 7 pm – Ah Aah

This is by Thuqlak Sathya is presented by Stage Creations and it has Kathadi Ramamurthy acting.

The Dark Lord – A play at Allaince Francaise

Youth Theatre group, The landing Stage presents the Play “The Dark Lord “Compiled by Janani
Narasimhan and V Balakrishnan. The play titled The Dark Lord depicts the story of Lord Krishna
who leads life as a Man with his leelas. It is compiled mainly from the Indian Epic “Mahabharata”
which speaks about his destiny and the purpose of his existence. The play is directed by V
Balakrishnan. Kaajal Oza Vaidya acts as Lord Krishna. Music is by Anusha Ramesh and its final
stage adaptation is by Sunandha R. At Upper Storey, Alliance Francaise de Madras, College Road,

Arjunan Thabasu – Play

Koothu-p-Pattarai is all set to present its new Play derived from the epic named “Arjunan
Thabasu” written and directed by Muthuswamy.N. A story derived from the ritualistic Koothu
interpretation of the Mahabharatha, showcasing the immense desire of Arjuna to obtain
Paasupath-aasthra from Lord Shiva. A counter plea is made by the disciples of Ekalaiva to adopt
the “Women’s Scent” to win the war by peace which is interpreted By Muthuswamy, artistic
director of Koothu-p-Pattarai. Donor passes are priced at Rs.50 and Rs.25 for students. At No:1,
