The Fifty Fourth Gokulashtami Sangeetha Utsavam
The music concerts during Gokulaxhtami Sangeetha Utsavam are dedicated to Legendary
G.N.Balasubramaniam in his birth centenary year. Particulars of the concerts this weekend are:

G.N. Balasubramaniam’s Birth Centenary Celebrations. A Multi-media presentation titled GNB – Musical
Legend will be presented by Dr.S.A.k Durga and Dr.Radha Bhaskar.

Trichur V.Ramachandran, M.A.Krishnaswami, Mannargudi A Easwaran and
Adambakkam k Shankar (Ghatam) will present a concert.

Jugalbandi by M.Nandini and Shri Purbayan Chatterjee.
Nandi Fine Arts presents the international musicians Violinist M Nandini and sitar player Purbayan
Chatterjee in a Jugalbandi. They will be accompanied by Bangalore Praveen on the Mridangam and Yogesh

Brass Band Concert “Orféo”
Nicolas Baronnier, Jean-Claude Dudek (Trumpets), Jean Smektala (Horn), Jean-Pierre Moutot (Trombone)
and Philippe Gateau (Tuba) are proud winners of nothing less than the first prizes at various music
academies and at concerts at the international level. The musicians of “Orféo” are unique in the sense that
they teach the musical instruments while simultaneously performing as a brass quintet. They are one of
the most well known soloists.
The brass quintet “Orféo” is regularly invited to concerts and to French and international festivals (national
stages, theaters, French cultural centers).
“Orféo” lends its unique approach to different styles of playing jazz, world music, etc… This multiplicity of
genres allows then to capture the hearts of the public in their numerous styles of concerts, particularly in

Enchanting Evening Of Jazz Music
The Alliance Française of Madras in association with Exodus and the Courtyard by Marriott present an
exciting and enchanting evening of Jazz music. The musicians performing will be Matthew Littlewood,
Saxophonist, pianist and composer and Holger Jetter, musician, composer, arranger and producer.
Matthew has played in a large number of jazz groups, big bands and orchestras in both England and India
and in 2003 released his first album under his own name entitled “Glass Eye”. Jetter’s strong affinity to
improvised music led to the formation of the Modern String Quartet, which toured several times with wellknown
artists such as Constantin Wecker, Joan Baez and Mercedes Sosa.
Matthew has played the saxophone to different audiences in Chennai, and now Chennai will get to hear him
on the Piano which is his favorite instrument and he is a master on it.
Together they will perform a wide variety of jazz to transport you to different worlds. The Concert has been
organized with Exodus and the piano is organized by Musee Musicals. Sat 24th Oct 2009, 7.30pm at

Western Classical Music
The 30 member Bangalore School of Music Chamber Orchestra will be in Chennai to present a western
classical music concert at the Museum Theatre. This orchestra, in existence for more than 15 years, is
considered one of the best chamber orchestras in the country. The proceeds from the show will go towards
