Shri Maharajapuram Santhanam Memorial Concert

Rajeshwari Mahesh will be the focal point of this vocal concert to mark the inauguration of the
memorial concerts. Those who accompany her are, K. Thiagarajan on the violin, Bhuvarahan on
the mrudangam. The concert will be at 5 pm on June 23 at Mylapore Fine Arts Club.
At 6 pm on the same day, there will be a violin concert by A kanyakumari, accompanied by KV
Prasad on mrudangam and Vaikom R. Gopala Krishnan on ghatam.

Vocal Concet by Malladi Brothers

In connection with the sixth anniversary celebrations of the Vedic Sangeetha Foundation,
Ramprasad and Ravi Kumar will present a vocal concert on Friday, 19th June. On the violin
M A Sundaresan and on the mrudangam Neyveli Narayanan and on ghatam Trichi Murali will
accompany the vocalists. At Vedic Sangeetha Foundation, 5, Jayashree, 42, Bhemanna Garden

French Group – KWAK and 20 Bands from India

The French Embassy in India in association with AFM, presents a weekend of delicious French
food and rocking mus ic with the French group KWAK and 20 bands from all over India. They will
perform rock, jazz, hip hop, metal and rap music to celebrate Music Day. The group Kwak has the
following musicians performing. Damien Tartamella (lead vocals, harmonica), Julien Joubert
(guitars, vocals ), Xavier Hamon (percussions, drums), Guillaume Le Nost (bass guitar, flute,
vocals ). Kwak is a rock band from Paris, France. For their second tour in India, they will present
their 3rd album, “Malice en la demeure”. They call their music “French Rock”, which is a very
special mix between rock music and the French tradition of Music. The Rock Concert will be held
on June 21. At Old-40/20, New-24, College Road, Nungambakkam on Sunday from 10:00 AM -
10:00 PM. Entry is free.

At Unwind Centre – Performance by The Previous Band

The concert by the group – The Previous Band – has their distinct style of heady vocals,drums,
bass and guitars. Other groups that will perform are young rockers, Colossus, Premonition and
Tom Violence. This will be the last performance by Premonition for a long while as the group is
breaking up to pursue educational goals.
Unwind Centre is at Third Cross Road, Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.

Drama

Raa Raa Raatchasa Raathiri

This drama created a sensation in Kerala. Primus Events which is now celebrating its 10th year in
business is now bringing this drama to audiences Chennai. The centre of attrac tion of this drama
is a haunted house. The presentation and everything else about this drama – the sets, DTS sound
effects, lightning, thunderstorm – are larger than life. There is a scene where a large jumbojet
lands on the stage. 200 artists perform in this show and tribal dance and music add to the fun.
The show is being staged at the Is land Grounds at 4 pm and 7 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs.100,
150 and 250. The shows will go on till July 12, 2009.

Evam’s An Idiot For Dinner

Evam is staging their production titled “An Idiot for Dinner”, adapted from a French Movie – Le
Diner de Cons. This is a comedy play and is their first English produc tion for the year. The play
will be staged at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium on June 20th and 27th at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm.
Tickets are priced Rs.150, Rs.300 and Rs.500.
