Brahms 2nd Symphony In D Major, Opus

The Madras Philharmonic & Choral Society present Brahms 2nd Symphony in D Major, Opus 73 and other works of Brahms, Mozart, Bach and Handel at Chinmaya Heritage Centre Concert Hall. This is presented by a 40 piece orchestra and the conductor is Victor Philip. Those who have an ear for western classical music would find this programme – in aid of The Cancer Society – interesting. It will be held at, 13th Avenue, Off Harrington Road, Chetpet, on Saturday, 25th October 2008 at 6.30 pm. Musical Fest To Felicitate Tamil Cinema Music Directors – From 1931 To 2008

Popular play back singers and dancers will be part of this show to be held at Kamarajar Arangam on 25th October at 6.15 pm. Playback singers like Rahul Nambiar, Benny Dayal, Harichandran, Kalyani, Senthil Das and dancers from the Raack Academy of Dance of Jodi No.1 fame will feature in the show. Tickets are available at the venue.

Music Group From Columbia In The City

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Colombian embassy will bring a performance by the music group Zona Prieta to the city. You can get to know Salsa at its best – the Columbian way at this concert. This concert combine singing, dancing and unique choreographies. The music they play takes inspiration from different regions of the country and new international trends. The group achieves a fusion of tropical music, cumbia, hip-hop and reggae. The concert will be held on October 25 at 6.30 pm at Sivagami Petachi auditorium , MCTM, No 179, Luz Church Road. Invitation can be picked up at 2446 0767, 2446 0768.

Carnatic Music

Vocal concert YACD, in association with Sri Krishna Sweets, is organising Chennai Tamil Isai on October 25, 6 p.m. at the Ayyappan temple, Anna Nagar. The Mambalam Sisters will be presenting a vocal concert.

Musical Treat

The fourth edition of the Anusham Chamber concerts begins on October 24 at the Sri Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam, 18, Raju Naickar Street, West Mambalam.

The programme will begin at 4 p.m on Oct 24, with Mangala Isai by Mambalam M. K. S.Siva,

Gayathri Girish (6 p.m.), and Kadri Gopalnath (sax, 7.30 p.m.) with Kanyakumari (violin) follow.

On October 25 a violin recital by Parur M.A. Sundaresan, M. A. Krishnaswamy and M. S. Ananthakrishnan will take place.

A Hindustani vocal recital by Shantanu Bhattacharya and Durba Bhattacharya is being organised by Bharat Kalachar on October 25, 6.30 p.m., at the Kalachar auditorium, 16/10, Thirumalai Pillai Road, T. Nagar.
