The UN Convention on the Right of the Child is celebrating this year its 20th Anniversary.
The French Alliance,ASMAE (a French NGO working for underprivileged children) and its partners NGOs
(Arunodhaya, BSAC, MACT and SEED) and invite you to celebrate this event together, on the 20th of
November, at the Alliance Française of Madras.
A photo exhibition of photographstaken by children will be inaugurated. The children from each NGO
have taken photographs to illustrate their vision of Children’s Rights in Chennai, according to their
experiences and daily lives.
Program on Friday, 20th November 2009 is as follows.

6:00 PM: Panel Discussion on Children’s Rights issues in Tamil Nadu and the response to these issues (AFM

field of photography will exhibit photos about Child Rights and one artist from Clown Without Borders

Clowns Without Borders offers laughter to relieve the suffering of all persons, especially children, who live
in areas of crisis including refugee camps, conflict zones and territories in situations of emergency. They
bring levity, contemporary clown/circus oriented performances and workshops into communities so that
they can celebrate together and forget for a moment the tensions that darken their daily lives. They also
seek to raise our society’s awareness of affected populations and to promote a spirit of solidarity. This

DakshinaChitra, the Heritage centre to promote the Cultural achievement of South India is organizing a 3
day workshop on Kerala Mural Painting for Adults from 20th -22 nd November.
The Mural tradition of Kerala evolved as a compliment to her unique architectural style. They are
characterized by their linear accuracy, adherence to color symbolism, elaborate sensitive portrayal of
emotions and ornamentation. The paintings reflect the rich ethos of Kerala.
The workshop fee is Rs.1800/- Inclusive of materials (acryclic), transportation and refreshments only.
Conveyance to and from DakshinaChitra, will be provided from MCF office, Besant Nagar.

To celebrate World heritage Week, Dakshinachitra will host works of two artists.
Drawings of Tradition fishing boats in Bay of Bengal by E. Amalore
And Photographs of South Indian Monuments by N. Thyagarajan
A mechanical engineer by profession, Amalore served as artist, photographer
and technical draughtsman in Food And Agriculture Organisation
Of The United Nation (FAO) for twenty years. He served in the
Information Division of the project and traveled extensively in these
coastal regions, drawing, painting and capturing their serenity in his camera.
N. Thyagarajan, an alumni of the Govt.College of Arts & Crafts, has been capturing monuments of the
Chola and Pallava period mainly. Last couple of years, he has been widely travelling in Southern Tamilnadu
and has primarily worked on temples in Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Kanchipuram
These works are for sale and the inauguration is on 19th November at 11 am.
The exhibition will be held between19– 25 November 2009, 10am to 6 pm – (Tuesday Holiday)
