accommodation on tree tops 140 ft above the ground, or taking them to cool places where they
can sit around camp fires at night witnessing the starry nights in utter quiet.
This week, we have two very good packages set in God’s own Country – one, in the northern tip of
Kerala and the other in the southern most tip, where you would be awe struck by the sound of
waves and the expanse of oceans.

02 Nights 03 Days package at Bekkal

Tour of this week is to Bekkal, on the northern tip of Kerala and this place is a fast developing
tourist destination. There is a lot of history behind Bekal apart from the alluring charm of the
place. The unique Bekkal Fort stands amidst the roaming but heartening music of the seas
carrying the thrilling memories of a bygone era. The Bekkal Fort has been a source of attraction
for historians, tourists and nature – lovers for centuries.
Bekkal Fort happens to be the biggest fort of Kerala spreading over forty acres. The important
features of this fort are the tank with its flight of steps, the opening of the tunnel towards the
South, the magazine for keeping ammunition and the broad and wide steps leading to the
Observation Tower . From there one has ample view of all the important places in the vicinity like
Kanhangad, Pallikare, Bekal, Kottikulam Uduma etc. The attractions here include:
Kottancherry (30 km north east of Kanhangad)
Visitors can enjoy adventure related activities at Kottancherry which resembles the famous hill
station of Kodaikanal for its scenic beauty. The rainforests near Konnakkad present excellent
options for trekking.
Valiyaparamba
The most beautiful backwater stretch of Kerala, Valiyaparamba is 19 km from Bekal.
Four rivers give shape to this network of waterways that lazily snake through the land, between
palm groves and paddy fields.
A ride in a Kettuvallam – the traditional houseboat of Kerala – gives one an unmatched
experience of the backwaters. The rustic beauty of Kasaragod makes one engrossed with the
beauty; the refreshing glimpses of life around the waterways makes this goods carrier turned
leisure boat much sought after by tourists. And, while gliding past little thatched houses, past the
clusters of green; past fleets of ducks you’ll finally discover that serenity has a name.

like paddleboats and water cycles.
Bekkal Beach
An unmatched experience of the sun, sea and the sand is this shallow beach, that offers, apart
from the charm of unexplored nature, spectacular views of the Bekal Fort nearby. Adding more
charm to the spectacular landscape are the swaying palm trees that border the beach.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Kanhagad – Bekkal
You are greeted at Kanhagad railway station and proceed to Bekkal , Check in to your resort by
noon . In the afternoon visiting Bekal Fort , Bekal Park etc. Overnight stay at the resort.
Day 2 Valiyaparambu
Morning after breakfast proceed to Valiyaparambu, check in to your house boat by noon. Cruise
through the backwaters of Valiyaparambu, overnight stay at the House boat.
Day 3 Kanhagad Drop
Morning after breakfast proceed to Kotttachery hill station , then proceed to Bekkal visiting Bekal
beach. In the evening drop at Kanhagad railway station to board your train.

Day 1 Tivandram – Poovar

Day 2 – Enjoying the best of both worlds – Kanyakumari & Kovalam Beach
Morning after breakfast proceed toSuchindram temple for darsan. Then, proceed
to Kanyakumari, visiting Kumari Amman Temple-Kumari Amman Temple dedicated
to Goddess Parvati as Devi Kanya (the Virgin Goddess) is an important shrine here.
Temple Of Goddess Bhagavathi
-Goddess Bhagavathi Temple in Kanyakumari is
picturesquely located at the confluence of the three oceans – the Indian Ocean, the Bay
of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Then, visit Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial
-The
memorial was erected to commemorate the evening of December 25, 1892, when
Swami Vivekananda visited Kanyakumari as a pilgrim and swam to the rock in the sea
and spent the whole night there in deep meditation. Gandhi Mandapam is another
place to visit, as it enshrines the spot where the urn containing the ashes of Mahatma
Gandhi was kept for public view before immersing its contents in the three seas. Alvar
Tirunagari is one of the celebrated Vaishnav temples of Kannyakumari, and this temple
will be another place to see. Vattakottai,
6 km from the city is an 18th century fort
overlooking the sea.
