Masinagudi/Mudumalai – 2 Nights / 3 Days

Mudumalai / Masinagudi Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park is situated at the tri-junction of the three southern states of Tamilnadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. It covers an area of 321 Sq. Km. comprising of pristine tropical wilderness. Mudumalai wildlife reserve is a continuation of the Bandipur National Park. The 321 sq. km. reserve is situated in Tamil Nadu.

It is an exciting place to see Elephant, Gaur, Chowsingha, Mouse deer and Sloth bear. The animals include, Tiger, Panther, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Blackbuck, Common Langur, Malabar Giant Squirrel, Flying Squirrel, Four-horned Antelope (Chowsingha), Wild Dog, Jackal, Mongoose, Jungle Cat, Rusty Spotted Cat, Leopard Cat Striped Hyena, Leopard-cat, Small Indian Civet, Striped-necked Mongoose, Ruddy Mongoose, Sloth Bear, Indian Giant Squirrel, Wild Boar, Porcupine, Striped Hyena, Slender Lories, etc.. Tigers are largely elusive but leopards or a pack of wild dogs, on the move are frequently seen.

Elephant Camp at Theppakkadu
The Theppakkadu Elephant Camp was established in 1972 in Mudumalai Range. The elephants are engaged mainly for the following purposes.
Eco tourism
Patrolling for anti poaching operations
To control Man-Elephant conflict outside the Sanctuaries or other areas (Kumki work)
As a conservation & Training center for Asian elephants which can be visited by public.
The National Park
The National Park organizes van safaris into unspoilt sanctuary areas, either from 6:30 – 8.30 a.m. or 3 to 6 p.m. The ride usually lasts anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and spotting game is pretty common. These trips are perfect for wildlife buffs who wish to spot the spotted deer, bear with a bear, or even a boar.
Time to Visit – June To September
The climate during this period is invigorating, and the forest is lush, tender and green. Game spotting is at its peak. It is located in a rain shadow area, so torrential rainfall will not affect your programme normally. The monsoon is characterized, rather, by short spurts of rain, strong wind and temperatures between 16o celcius to 28o celcius.

From Coimbatore – 135 Kms

Package – Itinerary
Day 1 Masinagudi
You are greeted at Coimbatore railway station and proceed to Masinagudi; check in to your resort by noon. In the afternoon visit forest department elephant camp where around 29 pachyderms are cared for and trained. You can witness them given a thorough cleaning, followed by a pooja (offering to the deity) by the elephants themselves and culminating in feeding them. Like the famous Darjeeling tea, the Nilgiri Tea plantations are famous for its green leaf tea. A visit to a local tea, coffee or pepper plantation as a half day or full day trip could be organized. Overnight stay at Masinagudi.
Day 2 Masinagudi
Morning after breakfast visiting Spice plantation, coffee plantation etc. In the evening enjoy trekking at Masinagudi Hills. Over night stay at the Resort.
Day 3 Coimbatore Drop
Morning after breakfast proceed to Coimbatore, on the way visiting Botanical Garden, Ooty Lake etc, and evening drop at Coimbatore railway station to board your train.

Doddamakali Nature Camp

Doddamakali is situated 6 km upriver of Bheemeshwari in Karnataka. This is one of the remotest and the most rugged and primitively beautiful place imaginable. This is where you will learn the meaning of the word “isolation”. It is 85 km from Mysore via Malavalli.

The Doddamakali nature camp is a Bird watchers’ paradise. The place is the habitat of more than 200 species of birds. Among the water-based birds, you can spot the pied kingfisher, spot billed duck, black-bellied river tern, osprey, and the gray-headed fish eagle and many more.

You can immerse yourself in various enjoyable pursuits to keep yourself doing things you may have never done before, discovering the beauty of life. The following activities will surely give you a new perspective to live.

Itinerary – Day 01
Arrive at Mysore Railway station and transfer to Doddmakali nature camp. Check in at the camp. Lunch will be served at the resort and rest till 4.00 pm. After evening tea proceed to the river for a Coracle ride / fishing. Night return to the resort, enjoy campfire with barbecue. Overnight stay.
Day 02
Early morning get ready for a trekking/nature walk towards the wild life sanctuary. Return to the camp by 9:40 am,. After breakfast check out and proceed to Mysore town. Enroute sightseeing in Mysore. Evening drop at Railway station for your onward return journey.
